AFP
Vet chroma™ AFP is a Fluorescence Immunoassay (FIA) for the quantitative determination of canine Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) in canine serum/plasma (EDTA). Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a normal serum protein produced primarily by the liver in a developing baby (fetus). AFP levels are typically elevated when a baby is born and then decline rapidly. However, liver damage and certain cancers can increase AFP concentrations significantly. This test measures the level of AFP in the blood to diagnose these conditions.

Compatible Device
Vet chroma™, Vet chroma-3
Detection Range
5-2,000 ng/ml
Sample Type
Serum or Plasma
Anticoagulant
EDTA
Sample volume
50 ㎕
Reaction Time
15 min
Reference value
Normal/Baseline: healthy
Mild elevation: possible liver regeneration, early hepatitis or neoplasia
Moderate to high elevation: suggest hepatic neoplasia
Marked elevation: highly suggestive of liver cancer
